International Folk Music Awards 2017 Artist of the YearOrdinary Elephant captivates listeners with their well-honed combination of insightful writing, effortless harmonies and intertwined clawhammer banjo and guitar. Husband and wife duo Crystal and Pete Damore have been performing together since 2011. The duo was both a Kerrville New Folk Finalist and Falcon Ridge Emerging Artist in 2017, and their release ‘Before I Go’ was reached No. 2 on the Folk DJ Chart for January 2017 and No. 7 on the Folk DJ Chart for the year.
Hardened and Tempered are Kristin Davidson and Carolyn Phillips. They live that balance of hard enough to hold an edge; soft enough not to break. Both women were raised to value tireless work and service. Phillips has worked as a nurse in oncology while Davidson advocates on behalf of the indigent. Both have always sought refuge and personal expression in music. Their songs take root in the story-telling traditions of folk and country and flourish with textured melodies and harmonies, revealing an intimate look at the human condition from a perspective that the listener may not have previously considered. Their music explores the mythology of the open road and the haunting relationships between person and place. Hardened and Tempered's debut release, The Trailer Sessions, charted on the Folk DJ charts and they were selected as a 2018 Regional New Folk Performer at the Kerrville Folk Festival.
