The Better Halves are an Austin-based husband-wife musical duo specializing in making listeners smile. Country, bluegrass, folk, jazz, Latin and classical styles create a widely appealing repertoire. Jimmy Joe is a skilled guitarist. He has a talent for crafting story songs, and has been a New Folk Regional Performer at the Kerrville Folk Festival. One of his car songs was featured on NPR's “Car Talk.” Chrissie joins him with sweet vocal harmonies and rhythm guitar. Her whimsical, melodic songwriting earned her the chance to perform on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion. Together they write funny, touching duets with clever lyrics and real boy-girl banter. They also play rousing Chet Atkins influenced instrumentals, including a piece played 4 hands on 1 guitar, which always bring down showers of applause! Their songs uplift and entertain all ages. The Better Halves have released two albums, both of which have charted on the Folk DJ Charts.
Hank & Shaidri Alrich are a father/daughter duo who have been playing and singing together for over twenty-five years. Their sound is both traditional and contemporary, driven by rich instrumental work supporting a unique vocal blend associated with closely related voices. Hank and Shaidri deliver an acoustic sound that is spacious and gentle one moment, dense and powerful the next. Their relaxed delivery belies the power of their performances, and their quirky senses of humor add a welcome twist. Their sound - a roots music package that blends folk, bluegrass, Americana, old country, and original songwriter - doesn't fit well into preconceived marketing niches, but it appeals broadly to many people across genres and generations. This is stellar stuff for listening audiences who love good acoustic music. Hank and Shaidri have released one album.
