Tim Grimm played one of our first house concerts in 2011 and we are excited to have him back. This time, he will be joined by his wife, Jan, and his two sons, Jackson and Connor. Tim is a singer, songwriter, and actor in film and television. His songs are full of the rural rumblings that have shaped his life—rich with descriptive details, and sung with warmth and intimacy—recognizing the inextinguishable national romance with the idea of the family farm and the vanishing landscape of rural America. Michigan Folk Live has dubbed Tim, “The Poet Laureate of the rural Midwest” and awards he has garnered include being named 2000’s Best Discovery in Roots/Americana Music by The Chicago Sun-Times and 2004 Male Artist of The Year by the Freeform American Roots (FAR chart) DJs. He has released 9 solo albums since 2000. Tim’s 2005 release, Back Fields, was named Americana Album of the Year by Just Plain Folks Music Awards (the world's largest independent music awards group.) In 2007, in collaboration with songwriters Krista Detor, Carrie Newcomer, Tom Roznowski, and Michael White, Tim released a concept CD, Wilderness Plots, based on the short stories of noted author, Scott Russell Sanders. Two PBS programs have explored Wilderness Plots-- the first, a documentary about the story and songs, and the second, a full 90-minute nationally-televised concert, Wilderness Plots - In Concert, featuring Tim Grimm and his fellow songwriters. Produced by WTIU in Bloomington, IN, both productions were nominated for Emmy Awards. Tim performs at numerous music festivals, including the Kerrville Folk Festival, and tours throughout North America and Europe.
